Mamie Taylor

The Mamie Taylor, invented around 1900, is the predecessor to the Moscow Mule- simply mix a blended scotch whiskey, ginger beer, and lime juice, and serve over ice. Today we prepared ours with Johnnie Walker Black, Swig + Swallow Moscow Mule mixer (fresh ginger syrup, fresh lime juice) and sparkling water.

 

Mamie Taylor Recipe (our version below)

2 parts blended Scotch whisky

Half a lime

4 oz Ginger beer

Glass: Tall glass or copper mug

Garnish: Lime half

Squeeze the lime into your glass or mug. Add whisky and ice. Add ginger beer, stir, and garnish with a lime half or wheel.

 

Mamie Taylor Recipe with Swig + Swallow Mule Mixer (makes 2 drinks)

4 parts Johnnie Walker Black Label

1 Swig + Swallow Moscow Mule Mini Mixer

Splash seltzer or soda water

Glass: Tall glass or copper mug

Garnish: Lime Wheel

Pour Scotch into your mixer bottle and shake. Pour contents into two glasses over ice. Top with seltzer or soda water. Garnish with a lime wheel.
